What Are the Hot Lipstick Colors for Summer 2010?

Melanie Dee
Some of us have a keen eye to what is popular, but it can be hard to keep up with the ever changing trends when it comes to makeup and makeup colors. If you landed here, then likely you're wondering what summer 2010 has to deliver as far as lipstick colors go.

Summer 2010 trends are bold, bright and they stand out. Now, not all of these lipstick colors are for everyone, especially considering skin tone differences between one and another person.

One of the hottest lipstick colors for 2010 is bold, bright reds. Although on pale skin red lipstick will stick out like a sore thumb, but this is considered trendy right now. If you have pale skin, give it a try, it looks especially bold and beautiful on those with dark hair color.

Bright orange believe it or not, is also back. Darker skin tones will look lovely sporting an orange lip color. Make sure it has a little bronze shimmer to it, otherwise it will just look silly.

Plum or purple is also back for those with darker skin tones. Purple is a lot more daring, while plum will give you a much more natural finish.

Silver shimmer is back, but you can layer the silver shimmer with a light pink for a pretty metallic lip color. Applying a coat of lip gloss will also seal the color for longer lasting lip color.

I have seen light metallic blues on women lately as well out in clubs. Although the color does not work well with most skin tones, it does add an interesting and unique twist to your wardrobe, especially if it consists of blues, and matching eyeshadow.

Shimmering browns are always welcomed in the summertime, especially on those with dark skin tones, and those who have been tanning a lot. Brown lip color will give you a more mocha look, and if you are going for an exotic beach tan babe vibe, then brown lipstick should be part of your lip collection.

So there you have it ladies, red taking the number one spot, followed by new bold colors that fell from the 1980's. That's right, retro is back, in full bloom.
