I just want to point out some very interesting facts. If we were to have a college football playoff of 8 teams and seed the teams according to BCS ranking, here is how the bracket would look (Figure 1).
Another possibility is to have the championship play out the same way the FCS does their championship. They use a 16 team tournament where each conference champion gets in to the tournament automatically. There are 11 FBS conferences which leaves 5 teams to get an at-large bid to go to the tournament. Seedings could be determined by committee or by computer rankings similar to the BCS. If we were to use this general system, the championship would look like this (Figure 2).
Just sayin'.....those are some awesome matchups. Imagine we could have a selection special, and I think that any team that would have any legitimate argument for playing for a championship is included (even the mid major conference champions). Sure I don't think Troy would be able to give Alabama a game, but how many 16 seeds have beaten a number 1 seed in the NCAA Basketball tournament? But at least its settled on the field, and not by voter opinion.
