What to Do If Your Pay Pal Account is Missing a Payment

Dale Miller
If you're one of the millions of people buying and selling on eBay and have recently discovered there was a missing payment in your PayPal account, then you should try several ways to resolve the issue. It could be just an honest mistake by eBay or PayPal since they are dealing and managing millions of transactions. It could be be something more serious like someone trying to scam you, take your money and not send your item.

Contact the other party

You should try to resolve the problem through phone or email and try contacting the other party. There may have been a problem with shipping or the contact information described in the listing. Try this step first, to see if the other party will respond and tell you what is going on.

Escalate by contacting eBay

You should email eBay if you have not received a response from the other party or if the issue is not resolved. They will guide you through the dispute process and direct you towards the next steps to take. Usually, they will tell you to work it out with the other party first. Then, they will get involved by emailing or even calling the other party for you.

Escalate by contacting PayPal

Send an e-mail with the transaction numbers and item numbers so they can have all the necessary information so they can help you the best possible way. Usually, PayPaL will respond quickly by email and have other options, such as speaking to a live associate via instant messaging. I was missing a small payment on my account and went through these steps which took a week or two without resolution. Finally, I called the Pay Pal toll free customer service number and spoke to a live agent. They were able to pull up my account and ask the necessary questions to find out what happened and why it happened. They informed me that I changed my personal email address and deleted my old email address on my PayPal profile. They said the payment was on hold until it was corrected. PayPal walked me through how to change my profile and correct my account so that the payment would post to the account. Of course, other issues may be more complicated or severe, but at least now you have some ideas of what can happen with your PayPal account online.

Excellent info for those panicking because of a missing payment. I haven't had it happen, and I hope I never do. If it does I'll come back to your article. Thanks!
