What I'm Doing with My Digital Design Degree

In today's society it is in our heads that we have to go to college in order to make something of ourselves. Sadly, it could not be more true. I started taking Digital Design at the Art Institute back in 2008. In just two years, I received my certificate. Now, I know what you are thinking; "What could you possibly do with a Digital Design Degree?" Today the world is being taken over by computers and Photoshop. By taking digital design, I was able to achieve my greatest goal, owning a business. Sound confusing? Let me explain.

Owning a business is all about getting your name out there for everyone to know. I am able to create my own flyers, business cards, brochures and etc instead of hiring someone to do it for me. Not only that, but taking digital design allows me to have the ability to design my own website. All of this is thanks to my degree!

By having a digital design degree I am also able to create various art for people for pay. Rather they need a birthday flyer, business cards or just a simple letter header, I am the perfect candidate for the job! So one degree turned into various career opportunities! Can't beat that! When you get a degree in most fields, it only helps you in that field, how about knowing your money is going for various opportunities? How wonderful would that be?

Before starting my online business, I was happily working with a local salon doing business cards, posters, flyers and etc. It was the most fun I'd had in long time. Nothing was more rewarding than to see my creations in a public place. People knew my name and was wanting to hire me for their business. It such a great feeling knowing that my education was paying off by helping people along the way!

As of right now, my digital design degree has helped me in so many ways. I would recommend anyone getting some sort of degree in their lifetime. It will only broaden your perspective of the world, and your own life. Nothing is more rewarding than knowing you're knowledge is wanted and needed for someone else. There is nothing more exciting in this world than getting to know others along the way! I can not count how many people I have met by just my digital design degree alone! How outstanding is that? A simple degree indeed changed my life.
