What I'm Most Thankful for in 2009

My Blessings in 2009

Bobbi Leder
With Thanksgiving right around the corner now is the perfect opportunity for each of us to take stock of what we are grateful for. Whether you are thankful for simple things like a parking spot near the front of the mall, or more meaningful things like your health, take time this Thanksgiving to share what you are grateful for; and if you are celebrating with your family, be thankful you could all be together - even they annoy you. Listed below are things I have been thankful for during 2009.

My Husband

Many women dream of marrying someone tall, dark and handsome, and I was lucky enough to do just that. My husband is someone who provides unconditional love no matter what I say, do, or look like. He has a wonderful sense of humor, he's intelligent, a great doggy daddy, and he has a stable job that keeps us secure. My husband is also my motivator and supporter, and the person I know will be there for me until the end.

My Dog

We adopted Euri last year and although our lives have changed significantly because he's so high maintenance, I can't imagine life without him. Euri is the reason I wake up in the morning and he puts a smile on my face each and every day. He gets me outside and moving twice a day, and provides hugs - yes, real hugs - kisses, and lots of love. Euri has been my muse and my best friend; he has changed me for the better and made me realize that it's OK not to be perfect.

My Health

I have battled many health problems over the years but 2009 has been good to me and for that, I am very thankful.

Our House

It's no secret that I'm not in love with the neighborhood where we currently reside, but we managed to pay off our mortgage this year and for that, I'm grateful. It feels great to know that we own our house now, not the bank. I also love knowing we have our own furniture after living abroad and renting other people's homes.

Other things I am grateful for are my parents, the ability to work from home, the great vacations we take, and the fact that I can wear shorts most of the year. I hope 2010 will bring many more blessings that I can be thankful for. Thanksgiving is not just about turkey, stuffing and cranberries; it is about reflecting upon the good things in your life and saying, "Thank you!"
