I am not talking about money or property. As we all know from the past year on the stock market, money can be lost in an instant. As we all know from the past couple of years in the real estate market with all of the foreclosures property and homes can be lost in an instant also.
We have placed to much value on monetary things and possessions, as only we could be so intellectual stupid to think that we can and could own things placed here by the Creator. It is ALL His and His alone.
There is an old Native American motto "Mother Earth is not ours, we did not inherit it from our forefathers, but it is on loan to us from future generations."
If one would think about this motto, maybe one would think differently about the way he/she would treat their world, city, community and their own neighborhoods.
Instead of thinking what we need to leave for our children to inherit, we would then be in the mindset that we have already inherited what we have from our children and then must leave it in the same or better condition as we received it in.
Let us go back just a few hundred years in history. The Euro's found/discovered Turtle Island (North America), although it was not lost, it was always here, so it could not be found. When arriving on the shores of Turtle Island, the Euro's discovered a people, living off the land, borrowing only what was needed to survive. Giving to a brother/sister in need. Living peacefully with Mother Earth and each other.
Quickly, because these people, Native Americans, were not like them, the Euro's named them savages. The Euro's took a liking to this new land Turtle Island, and started to cut down trees and woodlands, that had stood longer then most of the Euro's cutting them, to make room for their cities and farm lands.
The Euro's then started to kill or run off the so-called savages so that they could lay claim to the lands they were turning into cities and farm lands. They also started to hunt and kill for sport, some to near extinction, animals that had roamed these lands long before the Euro's hit the shores, without worry and able to live life the way Creator had intended it.
So if looking back upon it, when the Euro's first hit the shores of Turtle Island, and called the Native Americans savages, who really was the savage, and who was the civilized man?
If you look back into Native American teachings, it is believed that Creator handed down and imprinted His laws to the four tribes of man in the beginning. The four tribes of man included ~ Red, White, Black, Yellow. These colors also make up the four colors on the Native medicine wheel, and are very significant. If you look at the colors; Red (Native American) White (Euro's) Black (African) Yellow (Oriental). The four tribes of man, so it is believed that the elders of all four tribes of man were imprinted with the laws of the Creator. Lets look at those laws.
Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect!
Remain close to the Great Spirit
Show great respect for your fellow beings
Work together for the benefit of all mankind!
Give assistance and kindness wherever needed
Do what you know to be right
Look after the well-being of mind and body
Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good
Be truthful and honest at all times
Take full responsibility for your actions.....
So if all four tribes of man, Euro's included, were handed down these laws by Creator, and just a couple hundred years ago the Euro's found the so-called savages on Turtle Island still living this way, where did we go wrong along the way? Where did we loose track of these laws and stop living by them? How did our own arrogance and pride become greater than the Creator's?
We decided that we could own His world. We placed value on His things. Then we became greedy! We wanted to lay claim to as much of the valued things as we could. Our value of things became more important than the Creator's value of things. As greed took over, we lost respect for things that dwell on earth, we lost respect for earth. As greed took over we had no room to be close to the Creator. As greed took over we lost respect for our fellow beings and did not work for the benefit of all, we just began to work for the benefit of ourselves. As greed took over we lost our kindness and truthfulness . As greed took over we would not share our efforts to the greater good because it would take from our gains. As greed took over we would not take full responsibility for our actions, someone could sue us and take our wealth.
So my question to you is, where do we go from here? What impact are you going to leave? Will there be a tomorrow for your children or grandchildren?
In the year 2000 it was estimated by scientists that there would be no more polar ice during the summer months a century from now. This year those estimates were proven wrong, in 25 to 30 years from now there will be no more polar ice during the summer months.
With those estimates that will quicken global warming as there will be no more ice to reflect the sun's heat back off the earth. Also no more polar ice will mean a rise in our oceans, which will mean geographic change in our cities and coastlines. One more thing this will present is the fact that polar ice is made up of fresh water and once melted will start a desalination process of our oceans, thus killing off life forms that need salt water to survive.
So are we going to continue status quo? Leaving things as they are continuing on the path that we have chosen, leaving money and possessions as our drive.
Technology is out there and available for our use to help restore some things back to the way they were, but as long as Big Money, (Corporate Giants) are left to control, greed will be the driving force placing profits before planet or future.
Wind and solar technology is available for our use, and we have some of the best wind current alleys on the planet, that within a 5 year span we could have enough wind turbines and solar stations to produce our electric needs, which would allow us to stop strip mining our planet for coal.
If every community would start recycling programs we could reduce our impact on landfills. I know for a fact that here in Georgia most communities do not recycle. Recycling would also create a revenue source for towns and communities.
Instead of allowing our governments to de-list endangered species, so that certain groups can finish hunting them into extinction, we could force our governments to protect endangered species, so that they will be on this planet for future generations.
We could all get involved in protecting and preserving our planet, instead of saying "Ah someone else will do it." Take part in something, living by one of the laws handed down by Creator, Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.
So will you leave your children an inheritance of something monetary, or will you leave them a planet that will still be here?
Something to think about.
Just one man's opinion. As always, put the wind in your hair and keep the sun to your back. Be good and stay safe. Peace, Love and prosperity to all.
Good Journeys!
