What Are Jardines?

Jardines in Mexico

Pure Writing
During my vacations in Mexico I love to take long walks throughout the city, and I love to stop and rest at historical gardens, which every city in Mexico will have one of these. And, the historical gardens are called Jardines, because of the greenery that can be seen. At Jardines there is a lot of park benches where you can rest and observe the view of passing pedestrians and cars around the Jardin. There are many times I'm sitting and catching some shade when I see someone I know, but the majority of the time I look the other way because I don't want my peace to be broken. In this article I will explain why Jardines are built in Mexican cities throughout Mexico and what their purposes are.

Jardines or historical gardens are built throughout Mexico for several reasons. The main reason they are built is to honor the town's or city's history and there will usually be a statue there of some sort in the center of the Jardin, to honor the town's or city's founders. Or the statue may honor the war revolution of the town and the sacrifice the town's or city's people endured for freedom. The statues are usually made out of metal or copper and they get monthly maintenance to maintain the cleanness of the statue. These Jardines usually have water sprinklers throughout it's grounds to water the green foliage so they can prosper and be healthy. In the town of Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato where I am from it's pure desert , but the water sprinklers keep the Jardine very green throughout the year.

These Jardines are built for the public to relax and enjoy the shade after a long stroll through the town. There is usually live entertainment for the public to enjoy while sitting at the Jardin, and tips are generous for the performers. But, some of the bands that play are provided by the city for the tourists and the locals. Many tourists enjoy this live entertainment while they are vacationing around these Jardines. There is also ice cream stands at every corner of these Jardines for your different taste buds.
