Large Heavy Metal: One of the new trends in jewelry for the upcoming year is metal. Many of these pieces are quite large and heavy. There is no such thing as too much and sometimes the more the better, depending on your destination. Many of the pieces are dramatically decorated and will stop people in their tracks when the wearer enters the room. Some of the more elaborate pieces by Kenneth Lane trend on the more expensive side.

Antique: Many ladies are looking to the styles of yesteryear for their jewelry designs. One of the newest trends is to combine the vintage look with a new modern style, which will continue into the upcoming 2011 season. Designers such as Elizabeth Locke and Roberto Coin are known for these dramatic styles.

The Unique and Unusual: Instead of the brooch and pins of the past, the new trend is unique heirloom necklaces. Many of these bib styles cover the entire neckline and are designed with multiple chains that may or may not have a pendant. Some of the pendants styles include ornate crosses, skulls, circles, and skeleton keys. Many can even bought with matching earrings making your style truly yours.

Natural Ethnic and Tribal: The jewelry trends for this coming year also brings back the hot regional and tribal looks. Many of these are Native American or African themed and are made with natural stones such as turquoise, agate, onyx and semi precious stones. Well known designers for these styles include Oscar Heyman and Katy Briscoe. Many very popular styles are made with coral in its raw form.

Crystal, Rhinestones, and Art Glass: No look says forever as diamonds and nothing duplicates diamonds like crystal and glass. These are also considerably less expensive as well. Some new colors for 2011 are grey and black as well as amazing sets of multi-colored earring, necklace, and bracelets sets. If you want to reflect light, consider some of the unique Venetian and hand blown glass jewelry for a unique look.

Since the wearing of jewelry has no rules, don't be afraid to combine two or more of these styles when creating your own personal unique look.
