Front Desk Clerk
You can get a job as a front desk clerk. Your primary responsibility would be to register guests in the hotel. Another requirement would be checking room availability and assigning guests to their rooms. Clerks have the responsibility of making sure guests receive keys to their room. Sometimes they will put through requests for wake up calls. Clerks are required to make sure customers are checked-out when it is time to depart. They must also issue billing statements and collect payments from guests. The salary can range from $7.24 to $13.71 per hour according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Night Auditor
Another job is a night auditor. If you want a position such as this you will be required to perform some of the duties of a front desk clerk combined with some accounting functions. A night auditor usually works late night hours from 11:00 pm until 8 or 9:00am. The qualifications for this job call for a high school diploma. The average salary for this job is $13 per hour. Night auditors will make sure are billing statements have been distributed and paid and they will resolve any discrepancies centering on accounting issues and customer service.
Catering Manager
Hotels also need catering managers which are responsible for all catering functions. The catering manager is in charge of planning, organizing, coordinating, and delegating as it pertains to various catering events. The catering manager must supervise and lead the catering staff as they perform their duties and responsibilities. All billing functions including pricing are within the scope of the catering manager's job duties and responsibilities. The educational requirement is a high school diploma. Previous knowledge and experience in the food industry may be required.
Banquet Cook
Hotels also need banquet cooks who are responsible for preparing, cooking and serving food to guests as per their specifications. A banquet cook must be prepared to operate all of the cooking utensils and equipment such as ovens and stoves. They must also make sure all food is washed and cleaned prior to cooking. A banquet cook must be able to cook food based on certain recipes and instructions. Banquet cooks must keep the kitchen and surrounding areas clean and sanitized.
House Manager
A hotel will also need a house manager that will be responsible for making sure all guests are safe and secure, therefore they must address and resolve any security issues at the hotel. When tables are set up the house manager has to make sure everything is done to certain specifications. The house manager must also supervise with the organization and coordination of events. The supervision of budgets along with inventory and supplies is also a function of the house manager.
