First of all, what does your kid like to read? One of the biggest and most popular book series out is Twilight. The Twilight saga has captured the attention and imagination of teenagers (this is especially true for teenage girls) around the world. It tells of the adventures of shy human girl, Bella, seductive vampire, Edward, and best friend Jacob (who happens to be a werewolf). It also features other notable characters, such as the Cullen family, the werewolf pack, and the infamous Volturi. Together, they fight off immortal enemies. Oh, and did I mention, it is primarily a romantic series? Yeah, Bella and Edward fall in love with each other. The book series has spawned a popular film series (the movie portion of this article) that continues to rake in money today.
Another book series that many teenagers and kids like is the ever so popular Harry Potter series. This book series consists of the adventures and trials of a young boy named Harry Potter, who joins a secret world of wizards and witches. During the course of these seven books, Harry must battle the incredibly powerful dark wizard, Lord Voldemort. With the help of his friends and teachers, Harry manages to triumph over Lord Voldemort again and again. The books inspired a series of eight movies that made billions of dollars in theater ticket sales alone (not even mentioning the money made through DVD sales).
One thing that almost every kid wants, likes, or has is a Facebook account. Facebook is a hugely popular social networking site that millions of teenagers (and adults) use. Facebook is the one thing that most kids keep from their parents because it is a privacy thing (you really should respect your kid's privacy). Facebook is quickly replacing MySpace. MySpace was the most popular social networking site before Facebook came along. If your kid does not have a Facebook, yet spends a lot of time on the computer, there's a good chance they have a MySpace.
Speaking of computers, many teenagers love to use YouTube. YouTube is a social networking site that focuses primarily on videos. Users can make their own videos or watch ones from professional companies. It is highly popular among many people in many countries.
This is only the first part of my list. I intend to continue telling you about what your kids like in later installments.
