When you want to maximize the benefits of protein that you are taking you should be well aware of the most important factors governing it.
First you should consider the quality of the protein. There are many sources of protein such as milk and other dairy products, fish, eggs, and meat. However, not all the sources provide you with the same kind of protein.
Basically there are two types of protein. One type is the one that gives you instant absorption into your blood stream making it suitable for your pre workout and post workout portions.
The other type provides you with slow absorption, which is good for the times that you are going to spend a long time without any food such as before going to bed and after waking up.
After considering the kind of protein you should take care of the amount that you take. As a bodybuilder you are required to take from 1.5 to 2 grams of protein for each pound of body weight.
Since your kidneys are not able to metabolize this entire amount at one time you are required to take it at different intervals throughout the day. Taking all the protein at one time will be waste of effort and money, besides it will be hard on your kidneys and liver.
The third important factor that you should take into consideration is the timing of your protein intakes. Bodybuilding protein should be taken at different times, as indicated earlier in this article. Your intakes should be distributed along the hours of the days.
However, there are specific times that are more important for your protein intakes. These times are basically before and after you training sessions.
Since protein is considered the primary food for muscles, your pre workout portion will provide your muscles with the nutrition that they need to grow.
As a post workout portion, protein acts as a recovery agent. After a tough exercise your muscle tissues will be torn and need to get repaired. It is during this phase that muscles grow bigger and bigger.
Taking bodybuilding protein is important to see good results as a bodybuilder. The factors that are mentioned in this article are of crucial and you should abide by them to see satisfying results.
