A mentor can be anyone. It can be someone that you already know like a relative or a friend who is already in the same business as you. You may want to find a mentor who your parents know or you may want to ask around for someone who is kind enough to be a mentor to you.

Generally, your mentor is someone you can ask questions to as well, and visit in a weekly or monthly basis for help. It is important to keep the communication going, and the relationship open. Keep in mind too that you should also ask them how they're doing and be friendly. It's not very nice to only phone them and talk to them when they need help. Lastly, show your appreciation by sending them a thank you card or giving them a gift once in a while.

It is ok to call them once in a while to ask them some questions, and how they're business is going; however, don't expect them to be at your call to solve your problems because that is not what a mentor is.
