What You Need to Know to Get Rid of Cellulite

How do you get rid of cellulite? The first step is understanding what cellulite actually is. Cellulite is really just fat. Fat collects underneath your connective tissue, which is what holds your muscles and skin together. The dimpled, "cottage cheese" look is caused by fat pushing through your connective tissue.

So the first step in getting rid of your cellulite is understanding that cellulite is not a special condition or disease, but simply an accumulation of fat that you want to get rid of.

The best way to get rid of cellulite is the combination of a healthy, low fat diet and a regular exercise plan. You should eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid processed and fatty foods. You should also drink plenty of water, which helps to keep unhealthy toxins from accumulating in your body. Your exercise plan should focus on your legs, thighs and buttocks where cellulite tends to accumulate.

The goal of your exercise plan should be to help you lose overall body fat (which will also help you get rid of cellulite) and increase your muscle tone and body strength. Your exercise plan should be a combination of cardio and strength (weight) training. Effective aerobic exercises include walking on a treadmill, riding a bicycle or using a stair stepper. Strength conditioning should focus on areas of your body where the cellulite is. Leg lifts and squats are especially effective, as they target your legs, thighs and buttocks where cellulite tends to accumulate.

Other methods to get rid of cellulite that are also sometimes suggested include deep massage, liposuction, and cellulite creams. Although these methods can help to reduce the appearance of cellulite, they are temporary.

Deep massage may help smooth out your skin for a short time, but will not really get rid of your cellulite.

Liposuction is a medical procedure which can get rid of some fat, but also poses health risks. In addition, after liposuction your cellulite may return. You should consult with your physician before undertaking any medical procedures.

Finally cellulite creams may help to reduce your cellulite, but is more of a temporary measure as well. Cellulite cream may be used to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite, but to truly see long lasting results you should combine this with a healthy diet and regular exercise plan.

You can get rid of cellulite. Just remember, cellulite is plain, old fat not any mysterious condition. Take your first steps towards a healthy lifestyle and you will soon see your cellulite start to reduce, and eventually even eliminated with the right diet and exercise plan.
