Close, but No Cigar
The hotel may be haunted. But you may see nothing. These kinds of establishments are notorious for their ghost stories. But that doesn't necessarily mean that you will see, hear, or even smell anything out of the ordinary. (Note: However, just because you don't detect them, doesn't mean they aren't there.)
Surprise, Surprise...
Occurrences may be haphazard. Remember, ghosts don't always appear when you want them to. The stories that the innkeepers and hotel employees will tell you are certainly entertaining. Perhaps many of these stories are even true. But if you are waiting for a scheduled appearance based on these tales, you may be sorely disappointed. In fact, you may discover activity in some of the most unexpected places within the establishment. Be prepared.
Casper the Friendly Ghost? (Not Quite)
A lot of the stories that you will hear, especially in some of the countries most quaint Bed & Breakfasts, are quite charming. The ghosts are friendly or curious. The visions are wispy and ethereal. At least that's what many people are led to believe before they check into these haunted rooms. But many fail to realize that not all spirits are happy ones. Furthermore, not everyone is affected by the supernatural in the same way. Your quest for an exhilarating experience maybe lead you to a terrifying (perhaps even a dangerous) encounter. And according to some paranormal specialists, strange occurrences and feelings can follow you home.
Check the Refund/ Cancellation Policy
There are in fact plenty of stories wherein guests have been so frightened by paranormal activity that they have decided to leave abruptly. Some of these guests didn't care to have their money returned; surely, others did. Most hotels and motels are fairly strict about their refund and cancellation policies. If you are having cold feet about staying in one of the world's most haunted Bed & Breakfasts, this is most certainly a policy that you want to look into beforehand.
