What to Do with Last Year's Calendar

Deborah Anderson
Calendars are something that everyone seems to have and have to decide what to do with each new year. Do you just throw them in the trash and move on or do have you decided that you would really like to do something with the pictures that are one them, you know, the pictures you have looked at each day for the past year? If you have decided to keep some of calendars and now would like ideas for using them, then may be you will find some ideas in this article.

One thing you can do is replace the draw liners with the old calendar pages. Simply take the calendar apart, clean out the draw, throw away the old liner and replace with the calendar page. You may have to cut them down to fit or you may have to use two of them if the drawer is too big for just one. Now you have a nice clean drawer for the new year.

Another thing that can be done with old calendar pages is to make a jigsaw puzzle. Choose the page or just the picture from the page of an old calendar. Gather up a heavy piece of cardboard, scissors and some glue. Cut the cardboard and the part of the calendar you want to use to fit each other then glue them together. After the glue has dried, cut out the pieces to make the puzzle.

Placemats for your table can also be made using old calendar pages. To do this follow the instructions for the jigsaw puzzle but do not cut it into puzzle shapes.

If you decide that you like the pictures on the old calendar, make a collage out of them and hang them on your wall. Now you can enjoy those pictures for several more years, and not just a month at a time.

One last idea is to make a table cloth for a New Year's Eve party. For this project you will need freezer paper, glue, scissors and the old calendar. Take the calendar apart but do not cut the dates off of it. This is one project where the dates can be left alone. Glue the lay the freezer paper over the table you wish to cover and cut it to fit. Glue the freezer paper together if you need to make it fit the table then place the calendar pages on the freezer paper. Pick and choose which ones you want to go where and glue them to the freezer paper. Allow the glue to dry good before putting anything on the table.
