When I first started I spent alot of time just trying to come up with ideas for an article. I was clueless and wrote some really stupid articles mostly because I just didn't know how to go about things. What was popular? What wasn't? The best tip I can give you is to write what you know. We all have talents. We all have hobbies we enjoy, things that we do to make our lives easier. We have all experienced troubles in our relationships, experienced something that has changed our lives somehow. Write about it. The more passion you have for a topic the better you will write about it.
One of the mistakes I made on Associated Content was not taking any assignments. My entire first month I didn't claim any assignments for fear of being rejected. I figured there is no way my article will be good enough. The thing is if you look at the assignments that are given out every day these are the things that are popular on the internet. My first article was Where to find free Halloween music online that I was paid $2 for. I sent it in and made a mistake. I didn't hyperlink correctly to the websites and Associated Content told me how to fix it. I fixed my hyperlinks ,resubmitted the article and my article was published. I felt great accomplishment with getting that first article submitted for upfront payment published and it made me realize the income possiblities of Associated Content.
My advice to you is try assignments as early as possible so you get use to what is popular, it will make finding topics to write about easier for you in the long run. You have to make sure that your spelling is correct before submitting which can be done easily with a spell checker. You want to use grammatically correct sentences and be sure to give your article a great title. Make sure the title is not a duplicate.
Associated Content adds new assignments throughout the day as they come in. You are allowed to claim only 4 at a time and the assignment will tell you how long you have to write the article, what key terms you should use in your article, how much they will pay you for the article, and formatting of the article. Be sure to accept an assignment that interests you. You will have to do research on the topic, and just be sure to document any sources that you get your information from. Don't be intimated by any assignment, you can do it, and get paid for the article. I like doing the assignments that are looking for website hyperlinks such as the assignment I did on Where to find free Halloween Costume patterns online found here. I recommend this type of assignment for your first one just until you get use to writing assignments for upfront payments. Look at how I wrote this up, make a general template in a notebook. It is easy to hyperlink you just highlight the words that you want to link to, and hit the chain in the editor a new window will pop up for you to add the http:// website address. Try it, you can do it. You not only get paid upfront payment for the article but you also get performance bonus on these articles.
Once you start doing assignments you will get hooked. I have made my most money from Associated Content by accepting assignments. Once I submit the assignment I will look through the list to see if there is another article that I can accept for the following week. It doesn't take long for them to review your article. I haven't had any assignment that has gone more than 3 days to approve even though they have a week to do so. Go at your own pace and don't get overwhelmed. I suggest taking only two assignments at a time at first until you know that you can complete them in a timely fashion and make sure you have a week to do them.
This is important newbies. Be sure to verify your account. Under payment section you will see that you can automatically set your payments to be verified do this. This way you will not have to verify payment everytime your article is approved. Associated Content sends payments to your paypal account once verified, and they do send out payments on business days not on the weekends.
What I really love about Associated Content is the income that we can earn writing articles for them. There is no limits, once you write an article it is yours to earn on for as long as you are with Associated Content. As you build your library of articles you will build fans to your articles, more page views and more money. You just can't write one article and think you will be able to support yourself on it. You have to keep writing, write from your heart, write with passion and you can be successful on Associated Content. As long as I have been with Associated Content which has only been two months, I am proud to be a part of a community of wonderful writers, and thankful for Associated Content for giving us this opportunity. Give them a chance , you will be glad you did. The income possiblities are endless.

One of the things that I like about associated content is that I can write about anything I want and get paid by the number of page views I get.
