Live flowers can be donated to the church where you held your wedding. Most churches would be glad to accept the donation. Live flowers used at the reception as centerpieces can be taken home by the guests. If at all possible make arrangements for live flowers to be donated before the ceremony and let guests know they can take the flowers from the tables if they would like. If you have used artificial flowers for your decorations you can try selling them on e-bay. Those planning a wedding on a budget often use e-bay as a source for their wedding decorations.
If you have invitations and programs remaining after your big day save a few of each for scrapbooks of your wedding day. After you have put a few back for yourself make sure that everyone in your wedding party has one and that your parents have one for their collection of mementos. If you still have some left shred the remaining paper items to be used as filling for packing items to be moved or to cushion gifts in the bottom of gift bags.
Personalized items such as matchbooks and napkins should be put back for later use. Stash matches around you house near places where you burn candles. Pull out the leftover napkins for family gatherings . Another idea would be to save them and use them each year on your anniversary for a lasting reminder of your wedding day.
If you have other items that are nonperishable or are not personalized, place an ad in the newspaper or on an online ad posting site such as Craigslist. Your "trash" may be someone else's treasure.
