Once you have your FIN, it will trigger other agencies to send you state Sales and Use Tax forms as well as state and federal wages reporting forms. You will receive a 941 for federal and a state booklet. Whether you have employees or not, you still have to send these forms in at the appropriate times designated by each government agency. The Sales and Use Tax is sent in by the end of the following month. This is something you need to do religiously to avoid penalties and interest.
The next thing you need to do is send in the paperwork for the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms form with $250. This should be done before you open your bar or tavern. You will then receive a permit from the agency to place on your license board with your sellers permit from the state, liquor license from the city or town and your food, tobacco and gaming licenses. If you have employees, you need to register with the Unemployment agency and they will send you the necessary paper work to report wages. You also need to have Workers Compensation and Building Insurance.
If you live in a state where they require you to attend a Beverage Operators class, you need to this as well before receiving your liquor license. As well as a Food Safety class if you are going to serve foods other than frozen pizza. These are the things you need to open the door, you may need to plan farther ahead for opening with supplies, but as for the government agencies and insurances, this is what you need to do to get started. It is better to have a business plan and write down how much money you need for all these licenses and insurance, because they can cost some money to obtain.
