This all changes the day Sam turns 21. This is the day Sam learns that his parents sold his soul to the devil before he was born. The deal his parents made with the devil was for the soul of their first born on his 21st Birthday. From this day on nothing in Sam's life is the same. He is the devil's bounty hunter on earth. The devil gives Sam a vessel to catch the souls of those who have escaped from Hell. Each vessel is different and Sam must learn how the vessel is to be used to "catch" the bad guys. With little direction from the Devil, Sam, along with Sock and Ben trap souls in items such as a hand-held vacuum, a toaster, and a snow globe. Upon capturing the escaped soul, Sam must deliver it to a portal to hell. This portal is located at the local DMV, a place that is hell on earth.
Through his battles with the escaped souls, Sam and his friends are nearly killed several times but they in the end survive the battles. Through his experiences Sam grows as a person and learns that he has a purpose in life, even if he may not like it. While his relationship with his friends Sock and Ben survives and thrives, his budding romance with Andi is strained because he is forced to lie to her about what is going on in his life.
This series provides moments of drama as well as moments of comedy. A perfect balance for a guilty pleasure show. I say it's a guilty pleasure because the show is fantasy rather than reality, though in a world where "reality tv" has taken over this show is worth an hour of your time each week. The show Airs on the CW network on Tuesdays at 8 PM Eastern.
Reaper stars Bret Harrison as Sam Oliver, Missy Peregrym as Andi, Tyler Labine as Sock, and Ray Wise as The Devil.
