What to Look for in an Automobile Storage Facility

Bruce Peters
If you are planning to store your car, it's best to find a safe, secure and professional car storage facility. One of the most important aspects of choosing a car storage facility is finding a secure site. When it's time to store your favorite vehicle, make sure the facility you choose has these features:
  • Staff accompanied access: No one is in the facility without authorized Personnel accompanying them. That way, no one can take a "detour" from their supposed destination and harm your car.
  • Access authorization list: Make sure you know who is trying to access your vehicle. If the facility keeps a list of people who are allowed to access your car, they will also be able to alert you if someone suspicious tries to do so.
  • Perimeter Fencing: Make sure the facility is separate from its surroundings. Look for fencing that goes all the way around the property, in addition to individual storage units. If there are limited entrances to the facility, the Personnel can easily track who is in the facility.
  • 24-hour Security Personnel: It is vital to ensure that the facility you choose includes 24-hour security cover. Not just video cameras and motion detection alarm systems, but security forces on duty during all hours.

These features, in addition to some of the more traditional features such as a well lit facility, alarm system, and video and digital surveillance are what will keep your car safe. Make sure the storage facility you choose has all of the features or you will be running the risk of having your car stolen, mishandled or vandalized.
