Aside from hiring very good professional teachers, a school can supplement the quality of its education system by purchasing educational software, which allows students to easily learn difficult subjects while they're having fun. While nothing can ever replace living and breathing teachers, educational software help enforce a subject's key concepts.

Just type in "educational software" on Google and Yahoo and you will find many sellers of educational software on a variety of different subjects - Math, Science, among others, with varying degrees of difficulty. Before you go out and buy a piece of educational software, here are some bits of advice:

· Mind your own subjects. Of course, you only want to be buying education software that supplements your teaching. So if it's Math that you're teaching, buy fun software that teaches your students Math. Aside from Math, you can also buy educational software on science, reading, writing, and other subjects.

· Keep "fun" in mind. Boring software will only defeat your purpose and waste your money. Buy something that is fun to use, and don't buy software that incorporates boring graphics and even more boring voice-over. The last thing you want to do is to bore your students with boring educational software. You'll lose their respect that way.

· They should have different levels. Different students have different intelligences and as such will be at different levels of mastery on any given subject. Students with a high level of communication intelligence will fare better at writing and vocabulary than Math. Check if your software caters to different levels of subject mastery - from beginner, to intermediate, and to advanced. Having different mastery levels allows students to work from where they are and work to reach a higher level.

When you buy educational software for reading, the beginner's level should have the same level of difficulty as the reading matter that the students have been reading at the start of class. At the higher levels, the educational software should have more features that reinforces yet challenges their current learning.

An educational software that is a worth investment should be easy to use. In most cases, educational software simply asks students for one answer from among choices. If the student answered correctly, the software will play a sound or flash a picture rewarding the student for answering correctly. In other words, the best educational software, helps students develop their logical thinking and to develop their thinking processes.

· Software should be fun yet non-distracting. Having interactive features and featuringgraphics and videos can easily catch a student's attention. In case you didn't know it yet, today's students are more visual than anything else. Be careful, however, because certain graphics can be too flashy and distracting. You might want to try the software on yourself before experimenting on your students with it.

Keep in mind that nothing can ever replace you as the teacher. An educational software simply reinforces learning. If you are keen on buying educational software, just keep those points in mind.
