What to Look for in a Home Business

Are You Rich Yet?

Wendy Rahilly
So you have decided that the 9 to 5 lifestyle is just not working out for you anymore. You know you are better than
this and more deserving of a richer life. So what now? I know, how about go out quit your job and spend endless
hours at home on the internet buying into every scam out there in the hopes of getting rich quick. Yes, that is the
plan I think I will take, you say to yourself.

So is this a good plan?

Well I think you know the answer to that one. Of course that is not a good plan. First of all, you quit your job
before you have anything in place. That leaves you with no income coming in. Unless you are fortunate enough to
have a spouse who makes a significant income enough to support your whole family, then I wouldn't advise you to do
this. Second, I hate to tell you this but if you think you are going to find that golden opportunity where you will
get rich your first week in a home business, then you are heading down a lonely path to quick failure and will lose
a great deal of money along the way.

So what is the better plan?

Well first of all, keep your 9 to 5 job until you find a home business that is right for you and are making enough
residual income from it to replace what you are making now. Next, do your research. Do not fall for every hyped out
internet ad out there. If they say you are going to make $10,000 in your first month, chances are pretty good, it's
a scam. Do not fall for it. Instead, browse around work at home message boards (forums), blogs, etc. and see what
people are saying out there. Usually these types of places are great because they are real people who have tried
different home based businesses or work at home opportunities and know what is legitimate and what is a scam and
believe me, they will tell you.

Some things to look for in a home based business: Are they a legitimate company? What is their track record. Are
they a member of the BBB? What is their product or service? Is it something you would be proud to be a part of? Do
they pay their Independent Contractors? How long have they been in business (you really should try to find
companies who have been in business long enough to know that they are stable and are not going to close up shop and
leave you without an income again). What kind of testimonials are there on the company either on their product or
service or there business opportunity? These are just a few things to look for in a home business.

Now trust me on this, I speak from experience. I've been in the Network Marketing Business for over 7 years now
and if anyone has tried them all, that would be me. You really need to know the importance of finding a stable
company and stick with them. Don't quit in your first week or month just because you haven't made a sale with
them. It takes time, consistency and persistance. You know what the magic secret to building a home based
business is? It's commitment and absolutely nothing else. Building a business is like planting seeds, first you
plant your seed (your advertising, phone call, email), then you harvest your seed (people start to call you back,
email you, inquire about what you are all about) and then the magic starts to happen just when you thought it was
not going to work out, your seed begins to grow! It works just like that. You keep prospecting with your business
and you will begin to see the fruit. It always works that way. Or, you can go down the other road, and find that
Get Rich Quick scheme that is going to build you a fortune by next week. The choice is yours.
