What to Look for in a Mate

Denise

If you find yourself looking for a lasting love and keep ending up with the wrong people, stop for a moment. It's time to change how you find your dating partners. When it doesn't work out, it takes it's toll on you. Here are some very important thought to keep in mind when you're looking for your mate.

Know The Difference Between Real Love And Physical Attraction

The chances of a relationship lasting when it's just based on sex, or started as a physical relationship is small. A true friendship must be started first that must grow into something more. Get to really know a person before becoming intimate.

Having Similar Goals And Values

It is true that opposites attract, but certain things cannot be compromised. If you are careful how you use your hard earned money, it doesn't make sense to have a serious relationship with someone in debt or loves to waste money. It's important that with values like money, you are on the same page. It also helps to like some of the same things. Sharing similar interests, such as sports, traveling, and music brings you closer together solidifying the relationship.

Know Who The Person Is

The best way to get to know a person is not only to spend time with them, but with their friends and family. Someone can be a certain way around you, but turn into a different person around their friends or family. If you want to make sure the person isn't psychotic, you can do a private search on them online. This is not a guarantee that you will find someone who's honest. It is just to make sure you are fully aware of them for peace of mind. Nobody is perfect. Making a list of desired attributes is futile when you have found a potential mate. As long as you put friendship first, and you're treated with respect, that is the beginning of a relationship with a solid foundation. First and foremost, stay positive and believe that your special someone is out there. Never sell yourself short by lowering your standards. Expand your outlook to someone based on more than good looks concentrating on character which has a cache all on it's own. Remember back in the day when you found friendships and there was that incredible chemistry? Remember just how good and real that felt. Always look for that chemistry when dating.
