As website owners become more conscious of the need for SEO writers to further enhance a search engine optimization plan, the opportunity to make a buck here or there has equally increased for those who feel that SEO copywriting is a "simple and easy job."
In reality, SEO copywriting is easy... but not simple.
Unfortunately, SEO writers are a dime a dozen these days. You can find a dozen SEO writers who are actually willing to work for a dime just by visiting GetAFreelancer.com, oDesk.com, and Guru.com (just to name a few...)
I do not refer to this scenario as "unfortunate" because of the low cost competition, because these types of SEO writers ultimately bring me more clients looking for rewrites of low quality work. However, this is an unfortunate scenario for these clients of mine who have wasted their own time and money on the poor quality of low cost SEO writers.
So the first thing you should look at in an SEO writer is their rate, but not necessarily with the idea that 'cheaper is better.'
With that being said, there are two ways to pay an SEO writer... there is an hourly rate, and a fixed rate option. You may already have your preferences in mind, and any flexible freelance writer will adjust their own preferences to accommodate the needs of a client. However, it's a good idea to ask your potential writer what their preferences are to check for any difference between expectations.
Understanding the Hourly Rates of SEO Writers
Based on New York State law, the minimum hourly wage is $7.25. This is much different from the minimum wage in other states, let alone countries, and you will often find hard working individuals overseas who are more willing to work for much less than $7/hour.
So, in a sense, you might prefer to pay a smaller hourly wage. Just remember that you get what you pay for... and it is very rare that a non-native English speaker can write quality SEO content (in English.) While there are rare exceptions, a majority of my "please fix this!" assignments are based on poor grammar, spelling, and phrases that just don't make any sense.
However, the need for SEO writers is an ongoing need that can be rather pricy if you are paying too much for the services rendered. While you want to be flexible with your budget in order to receive quality, you don't want to spend more than a reasonable amount on an SEO copywriter.
Understanding the Fixed Rates of SEO Writers
It is recommended that you choose a fixed rate with an SEO writer. When paying by the hour, you are not giving enough credit to the time and effort that should be put into each individual SEO article or blog. When paying a fixed rate (per article) to an SEO writer, you maintain the right to decline buying any article that does not meet your expectations.
So how much should you pay an SEO writer, per article?
If you are spending .50 cents to $2 for a 500 word SEO article, you are getting what you pay for. Even if you have a large list of keywords to create SEO content on... you should not be afraid to spend more the first time around by finding an SEO writer that charges more-but for a good reason.
Even SEO writers that only charge $5 to $10 per article are still learning the ropes about SEO writing. Even though it is a fairly easy process, the system of writing quality SEO content is not as simple as fluffing words around the given keyword.
Warning! Keyword stuffing will cause your Web site to be blacklisted by leading search engines. You are responsible for any content you publish on your Web site, so when you pay a low cost SEO writer you will pay even more in the long run than if you choose a quality SEO writer from the beginning..
The specific rates of one SEO writer to another may vary. Anonymous Ink is a leading source for quality SEO writers, and they charge $25 per keyword article (500 words) with outstanding results.
While this price may seem steep to some, there are other things to take into consideration. When ordering SEO writing services from Anonymous Ink, keyword research is included, the keyword density Is checked, and the content is always written quickly because there is a full team of full time SEO writers available to bring their skills to the table.
Why Should You Pay for SEO Writers to Begin With?
SEO writers are an important part of your search engine optimization plan. The content you publish on your website is what can make or break you as a business, so it's necessary to hire SEO writers that don't prioritize the use of keywords. Instead, you need to hire writers that prioritize the effectiveness, quality, and purpose of each individual article that will play a role in your own success.
Isn't success something worth paying more for?
