A few years ago not many would have considered buying a Black diamond, but because of its uniqueness it has gained a great deal of popularity. Black diamonds have a silver or gray look and are called hematite and some scientists say they came from space The only place really to find black diamonds are usually in Brazil and the Central African Republic.

Types of black diamonds

There are two types of black diamonds to consider when buying a black diamond. The first type is the natural black diamonds. The black color of the diamond is caused by the many inclusions making the diamond extremely difficult to cut, polish or finish. Because of the inclusions, the natural black diamonds are opaque. The other type is enchased Black diamonds. These are regular diamonds but radiation is used in order to make them look black. The colors of these diamonds are actually very dark green because of the radiation but it appears to be black whenever you look at it. To see the dark green color of the black diamond you would need a fiber-optic light.

The 4 C's: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight when buying a Black Diamond

When buying a Black diamond (or any other kind) you should always check out four important things, which are the cut, color, clarity and carat weight of the diamond. Most people think that the cut of the diamond is the shape of the diamond. It actually represents the polish quality, the symmetry of the diamond and its cut grade. The color of the diamond is another factor that determines its value. The more transparent the stone is the more it would be worth. Therefore, that would make the Black diamond's in a sense, worthless, but not really since they are considered very fashionable and classy now. The amount of flaws or inclusions of the diamonds such as cracks or bubbles evaluate its clarity. The carat is the weight of the diamond. The heavier your Black diamond is, the more expensive it would be.

Natural or enchased Black diamond
Usually it is better to go with the enchased Black diamond since it is a real diamond with a changed color and it is a better quality than the natural Black diamonds. The natural Black diamonds are more expensive than the enchased ones and collectors tend to buy them. You may not want to waste your money on expensive Black diamonds just because they are natural. For a lesser expense, perhaps choose the genuine enchased ones.

Because of its stylish and classy look the Black diamond's popularity is still growing and buying Black diamond jewelry as gifts are becoming more popular. The Black diamond is a great stone and it also makes a great gift. Your loved ones would be more than happy to receive a Black diamond for holidays or any occasion to celebrate.

I like the informative article. In the beginning of December, last year, I bought my wife a pair of good looking (enchased) black diamond earrings. She loves them!
