What You Should Be Looking for when Buying a Laptop Cooling Pad

Many laptops have heating problems that can make the keyboard warm and harm the machine. Heat will kill your hardware quicker than anything else. To solve this problem, many people get laptop cooling pads that are designed to cool down the laptop with extra fans.

These devices work well and will make the laptop cooler to the touch and lower the internal temperature of the device. The problem is that there are many cheap models out there that don't work well or are missing features that you might really need.

Some cooling pads need to be plugged into the wall to run, while others are powered by your computer's USB ports. When you have the USB power, it allows you to take the cooling pad with you. You can plug it into your machine, running it off battery power or off the computer's plugged in power. This is the best option between the two. Battery powered ones also exist, but it just adds to the long-term cost of the unit because these need to be replaced.

Some cooling pads have very short USB cords. You might have your USB port available on only one side, and the cord might be too short to reach it. Be sure you look at the product description and find a cord that is at least a few feet long. You can get extensions on your own, but this is a feature that should be included.

Don't be fooled by the price. Just because it's more expensive doesn't mean it's better. Some of the best cooling pads cost $25, beating out their $50 counterparts. The only way to determine what is better is by reading real reviews. Find out not only what each unit does but how long it lasts. These devices get beat and can break fairly easily. One that lasts a year is a better value, no matter the cost, compared to those that break in a few short months.
