When I first came into college as a Freshman, I had no idea what major I wanted to pursue, or even how to go about searching for a good fit. I signed up for general education classes, and then dove into the world of undergraduate research, trying to find a degree that I would like to pursue. Now, two years later, I am a Senior majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I am happy with the major that I chose, however along the way I discovered several other majors that seemed interesting. One very neat major that I found was Forest Management. In this article I hope to convey the purpose of a major in Forest Management and include the general degree requirements as well as possible careers that you could obtain by seeking this major.

With a college degree in Forest Management, you typically will be prepared to work in an industry based around science, people and the environment. Job sectors that you may be involved in could be a wood products company, paper company, or the government. In Forest Management, you will be prepared to work in fields such as wildlife and science.

Some courses that you may take when pursuing an undergraduate degree in Forest Management would include: Forest Wildlife, Dendrology, and Wood Anatomy and Properties.

A major in Forest Management would be good for those interested in studying the outdoors, as well as human interaction with forests. You would develop skills in managing wildlife habitat, measuring and monitoring forest conditions and the health of the forest.
