The most paramount sacrifice a leader has to make is selflessness to him and devotedness and concern for others. This is the component and groundwork that must be present in any organization or group that has prospects of growth. A leader must have that charm not to injure any member in his group. One does not learn to have these traits. Make a decision to have them. They are effortless, yet valuable and can easily be put in practice into your organization. Irrespective of all other good traits, the absence of the above would mean to labor in vain. Selflessness and devotion has to not only complement, but completes all other personalities.
Are you prepared to go beyond the physical concerns of your subordinates? Being devoted to the needs of your subordinates goes beyond the physical. A leader must be bothered about the dreams and aspiration and the objectives, both material and psychological, of the flock that he leads. When true and honest minds come together, their objectives, dreams and aspirations become yours. Your accomplishments depend on their efforts and they ought to be given tribute and respect. Sure, you are there because they are there and they are there because you are here. Be troubled about their worries and aspirations to the extent that you may even want them to achieve more than you have done. You may even imagine wanting them to lead you at one moment in time. I know this may be very difficult to imagine, but the reality is obvious.
Are you prepared to delegate you authority to your subordinates? Do you care about what happens to your subordinates when you are not there? Think of the times that you have witnessed your effort not rewarded. Think of the time that you had regretted ever having this person as your leader. The same must never happen to you. It can be very rewarding to make them powerful. Think of all leaders you have admired. Think of the motivation behind their success. People are devoted with diverse characters and attributes. But the ultimate element is the concern and care that they have on their followers. Despite your weaknesses, the concern you show to your followers will strengthen you. This will call for their support and they will in turn, develop their unrelenting support and concern for you, and to the course of the organization. Remember that upright leaders were never born as leaders. They became leaders because they cared for and sacrificed their efforts to ensure the success of others.
Keep in mind; the charisma and importance of a leader lies in his effortlessness.
