A good husband means different things to different people. Some people define a good husband as a man who can adequately provide for his wife. Others say that a good husband is someone who is reliable and dependable. Here are a few further suggestions that makes a good husband.

A man you can respect

A good husband is a man you can look up to and have deep respect for. He should not make you feel intimidated if you express a different view to him, but he should allow you to express your views freely and openly. This in turn will allow you to build greater respect for your husband and to look to him to help solve your problems or to come to decisions that will have an impact on everyone in the family.

Hard working

It is easy to see how a hard working husband will be highly esteemed by his wife. It does not mean that a husband who is unemployed is not a good husband. I am saying that a husband who is hard working around the house and the garden is also helping to make a valuable contribution, that will be greatly appreciated by his wife. Taking a share of the household chores shows that a wife has a good husband, who does not expect her to do everything.

Honest

An honest husband is a highly valued part of the relationship. He will have his wife's trust and respect. Husbands who are in the habit of lying cannot claim to have their wife's full trust and respect. How can they be sure that they are telling the truth? So if husbands want to do their best by their wives, they will make sure they tell the truth.

Loves his wife

Not all husbands express their love for their wives in constant displays of affection and verbal expressions each day. But they are able to demonstrate their love for their wives through their actions and by sticking to them loyally. A man who has his wife's love can be truly happy and content in his marriage. A husband who is able to successfully get through the "I" stage to encompass his wife as well is unselfish, as "I" becomes "we". If a husband only thought of his own interests, his wife would suffer in a variety of ways. Husbands who realize that marriage is about compromise and give and take do not expect to have their own way all the time. It is possible to reach a compromise that suits both husband and wife.

As I stated at the outset of this article, a good husband means many different things to different people. Some place higher value on some attributes than others. But ultimately, a good husband is a man who is a treasure, who has found a wife of equal value to him, to share his life with.
