Mexican Colaciones to begin with are small rough colored sugar balls, and are sold all over Mexico by the pound. Mexican Colaciones main ingredient is mainly sugar, but I'm sure there is other secret ingredients that are kept secret from the public. Mexican Colaciones usually are sold in different colors, but I like my colors assorted. There is two kinds of Mexican Colaciones there is the pure sugar kind with different colors, then there is the pure sugar kind with a piece of cumino (light herb) inside the Mexican Colaciones. Mexican Colaciones taste is very sweet and chewy, they are also waxy when chewed.
Mexican Colaciones are enjoyed as treats a lot during Christmas every year especially in country side of Mexico. But, mainly the people that buy them are low income families, but many people like to buy Mexican Colaciones just to keep the old time tradition up like myself. Many people in Mexico like to serve Mexican Colaciones to their guest on a plate as snacks, or have some on the kitchen table to eat after the meal.
This Mexican candy is fun to eat, and the taste is very sweet and full of sugar, but it's wise to watch how many you eat, because these candies are really sweet and they can causes tooth problems. Mexican Colaciones are sold at candy stores throughout Mexico, but mainly sold a lot in the Mercados (Mexican market places kind of like a bazar). Many people in Mexico have forgot about Mexican Colaciones, because of the new sweets that have come into market, but Mexican Colaciones are Mexican Culture and they should be more noticed. The bad thing is the many years I have been living in the U.S. I have never seen Mexican Colaciones sold in the U.S. From my knowledge these candies are only sold in Mexico, and of course sold by the pound. If you ever in Mexico feel free to buy some Mexican Colaciones, because they are very inexpensive and the taste is always something to remember, but give your children a four piece limit to eat, because these candies are really sweet.
