What I Miss

Jack Eastham
The balmy breeze off a mountain lake
The distant drone of a diesel locomotive
The wafter of smoke from cabin chimneys
Grazing cows savoring an evening meal
Your soft hair against my shoulder
My arms holding you so near
What I miss these miles away
Yet knowing in the distance
Is a love that warms my soul
As I hear your gentle voice
Though just in passing dreams
Comforting me in your absence
And I hope while we go our ways
You need there what I need here
Each other's love
I miss you
