A businessman's list will ultimately be different from what a tourist will consider important. It may be taken as irrelevant what somebody travelling to Iceland packs compared to what the traveller to South Africa packs for his trip. A student may consider certain stuff as unavoidable in his list but may be immaterial to someone on holidays or attending conference. What you wish out of your packing list may be the number one on the scale of preference of another traveller.
In anyway, there are some necessary items that is required by any traveller regardless of the purpose of travelling. Every traveller need a list at least to meet the day to day needs. Here we provide you with some guidelines on various items to be considered in your packing list depending your travel plan.
Remember to obey the rules pertaining the carrying of liquid, gel and earosol products aboard commercial aircraft. You can also buy shaving soap instead of its equivalent cream. Buy powder toothpaste instead of tube paste. This is necessary when packing your stuff.
Starting from the hotels, they may not have the right type of plugs you to charge your mobile phones and laptop or to connect your shaving machine. You will not like to forget your Power Adapter. Do not forget that European power sockets are different from Americans.
A businessman will want to make provision for his notes and storage facility for the business cards he collects, he will therefore like to add a quart sized plastic zip bag or business wallet and writing pads in his list.
Laptop users will also like to add their flash drive, extra storage facility like the External Hard Disk Drive and the laptop adapter. If you are attending a seminar, conference or business meeting, your extension cable may also be ideal.
Just as baby wipes will serve an adult in a million useful way while travelling, it can be used to clean up messes while feasting, after taking snacks on the run and to clean up spiked coffee. If you consider a busy schedule on your trip, burst into a nearby grocery store and tuck at least a quart zip bag of baby wipes into your list.
Remember that your original passport and the photocopies of the data page are necessary. Make some copies and keep them in different bags and away from the original which normally will be carried on your person throughout the trip.
Keep photocopies of your itinerary, one in each bag including your carry on hand luggage. Sometimes when you travel, you become stressed up and details get lost from the memory easily under this condition, so it will be advisable to have your documents in your hand bag for easy reference.
For ipod and music lovers, a pair of battery-operated speakers may be ideal in your hotel room. For those who take pleasure in wine while alone in the hotel room, you may want to remember having a corkscrew in the list.
This will give you a relief when it is needed.
You wont like to forget your mobile phone, though it may not be roaming but when you return you may want to communicate with friends and relatives from the landing and arrival hall to pass some vital information concerning your movement from the airport.
Your digital camera and spare batteries of all the devices you are travelling with are also to be considered, don't forget them.
To freshen up your hotel rooms, you may not like to forget your air fresher.
Energy booster and some refreshment may also be indispensable especially when you are going to transit between countries or change aircraft. You may have also lost taste for the menu in the aircraft and you need to quench undesirable hunger. This is also essential if you experience delay in your flight or get stranded for a couple of hours or overnight.
Extra clothes, socks, undies and belt are also good to be added to your list to serve you when they are needed.
If you desire to make note like I like to do while travelling, you will probably want to remember your notebook, pad, pen and pencil.
Remember your BTA, cash, and your credit and debit cards. Do not keep them in one bag, separate them.
Scatter them in different bags. The purpose of this is to have access to some cash if one bag is lost or delayed.
Don't also forget some valuable items like your medications. To acquire new ones and exact medication elsewhere may be more expensive or difficult to locate. Make sure they are packed in their original packs.
You may likely want to remember home, places and people like wife, husband, children, parents, relatives and friends while on your journey, family photos and other interesting will do in this case. You can kill loneliness with them and explain yourself better to people you meet if necessary. Some interesting Video Compact Disk, Digital Video Disk and audio CD may also help when loneliness set in.
You may require to carry your warm clothes especially when you travel in winter or head towards a cold region.
It is important to watch the weight of your bag as you pack the items and be prepared to pay the imposed extra or excess luggage fee. Ask yourself if you will be ready to pay the extra charge. You either pay or shed your load. I once lost valuables in a foreign airport sometimes ago when I was not prepared to pay the extra fee on excess luggage. I think that was because of lack of preparation. Keep your weight slightly below the permitted size and enjoy your trip.
