What Movie Am I III? the Answers

Did You Guess the Movies in This Quiz?

For some it was an easy task, for others just too hard.

Here are the answers to the 2nd movie quiz to put you out of your misery.

If you haven't done the quiz yet, CLICK HERE to take the quiz, then come back here and see how well you did.

Movie Number One

Sir Kenneth Moore and Sean Connery
Are just two of the all star cast
John Wayne was acting ornery
It's a drama that hard to surpass

The BIG man Tom made a movie
With beach scenes dramatic to view
Same place and date, different movie though
Is this enough to give you a clue?

I'm sure some by now will have guessed
But if not, how about Ham and Jam
The movie's not short, did that help at all?
I gave out all the clues that I can

Now this will either be extremely easy for some of you to solve, as it was for Cassandra James, but I expect that it has left most of you clueless.

This is an epic movie from the Second World War that featured a cast of thousands, including some of the biggest names of their day.

Today will not be a short day by any means, as by sea and air the Allied Forces fight to gain a foothold on the beaches of Normandy.

John Wayne played the part of a Colonel who hurt his leg in a parachute jump and was "ornery".

I gave cryptic clues in the 2nd verse by mentioning the "BIG" man Tom. If you recall the movie "BIG", that starred Tom Hanks, who starred in and directed Saving Private Ryan. No this is not the movie, as you might have thought, but the movie I am after took place on the same day at the same place.

If you haven't got it by now you probably never will, it's the 1962 classic movie The Longest Day, an accurate depiction of the events that made up the D-Day landings in Normandy on 6th June 1944.

As for "Ham and Jam", these were the call signs for the British paratroopers assigned to capture the Pegasus Bridge over the Orne River and neighboring Canal to signal that the mission had been a success.

Movie Number Two

With Little Green Men and a scary boat ride
This movie is really bizarre
Four in a bed eating cabbage soup
And a bubbling machine for a car

I'm sure this is really easy to guess
With gold eggs and a Violet balloon
A boy and his Granddad take a factory tour
I'm sure you will get this real soon.

I think that most of you guessed this movie, the clues were rather obvious.

It's another classic, adapted from the book by Roald Dahl and starring Gene Wilder as a very eccentric factory owner, armed with some classic one liners and most likely ad-libs to the script.

The little green men are actually orange but with green hair. Got it yet?

The story is about a boy whose family is very poor, so poor in fact that they virtually live off cabbage soup, and both sets of his grandparents have been bed-ridden for some years.

Of course it doesn't require any more explanation from me, the movie is the 1971 favorite of chocolate lovers everywhere, Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory.

Movie Number Three

His wife becomes pregnant
Life changes a lot
But he's not really ready for this
They split then get back, it's part of the plot

The gestation period is all in the name
In a toy store a dinosaur fight
A doctor that's scared of needles as well
Enjoy it? I think you just might.

Ah yes, this fooled many of you as well, but quite a few did get it, probably due to my clue about the "gestation period is all in the name".

The gestation period of a human is nine months, and this is the name of the movie, from 1995 and starring Hugh Grant, it's Nine Months.

The thought of being a parent scares him, in particular the change of lifestyle, having to swap his sporty convertible for a minivan for instance.

There is a great scene with Hugh Grant and Tom Arnold in a toy store, having a fight with a man dressed in a dinosaur suite.

And then Robin Williams, the Russian doctor who can barely speak English, assigned to Hugh's girlfriend Julianne Moore, and he faints at the slightest drop of blood.

If you haven't seen this movie, it's a comedy classic. Rent it today!

I hope you enjoyed these, I am sure that most of you can work out all three movies.
I am working on sequels, so get out and watch some old movie and brush up on your movie trivia.

The first movie in the list, The Longest Day, is based on the book of the same name by Cornelius Ryan. If you are interested in D-Day at all, this is the ONE book you must read.
