------------------------------
Movie Number One
Tom, Dick and Harry went under the ground
It was all going well but one got found
A man forging papers went too blind to see
And stumbled and fell as he tried to flee
A man on two wheels almost got away
As did two in a plane, till their fuel gave way
Two more went downstream in a rowboat they stole
Can you guess this, or are you stuck in a hole?
I was surprised that this fooled most people, and yet it's such a well known movie that is shown on television in the UK and USA every year.
Tom, Dick and Harry are not people. They are the code names for tunnels that were being dug by prisoners trying to escape.
Donald Pleasance played the part of a forger, who by the time he had created documents for all the escapees (this was a mass escape), was virtually blind.
Got it yet? Oh well, if not, Donald Pleasance stumbled when he was trying to escape, and the noise alerted the guards.
A man on two wheels (motorcycle) almost got away. If I mentioned Steve McQueen have you guessed the movie now? He tried to escape being captured by jumping a barbed wire fence, but came unstuck.
Two men stole an airplane, and were virtually clear of the mountains and into Switzerland when they ran out of fuel and crashed.
Two more men rowed down river and escaped capture, finally securing passage aboard a freighter.
The movie in question is The Great Escape, featuring a big name cast, and it's an epic movie.
So did the explanation of the clues finally lead you to figure out what it was?

Movie Number Two
Served tea by a penguin in a make believe world
She came to look after a boy and a girl
She showed them some magic that tidied their room
Had a dirty faced friend with a long handled broom
She floats through the air with the greatest of ease
But this is one lady without a trapeze
Surely you've got it, we don't have all night
While waiting I think I'll just go fly a kite
Most people were able to solve this riddle, but a few didn't quite manage it. I am sure if you didn't figure this one out that you will be kicking yourself in a minute.
This is a movie with real characters, but in one sequence, the two stars of the movie jump into a picture that had been chalked onto the sidewalk, and into a cartoon world, where they are served tea by waiters who are penguins.
This movie is about a Nanny who came to look after two children. She arrives floating through the air, with her umbrella open. Got it yet? Oh come on...
This nanny had a friend who had a dirty face and a long handled broom, because he was a chimney sweep.
"Go Fly A Kite" was one of the great songs from this movie, as was "A Spoonful Of Sugar" and many more.
The movie was of course the delightful Mary Poppins from 1964 starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke,

Movie Number Three
While diving they find giant eggs in the sea
And take them back home, oh what could they be?
Placed in a pool so they don't all go dry
Some old folks go swimming, and the eggs start to die
But the people they find the secret of youth
Their renewed life is for them enough proof
The secret gets out, and there's aliens too
I think these are really quite enough clues
A lot of people got this one also, but it still stumped a few of you.
Aliens return to earth to take back some of their kin who have been left in a suspended state in what appear to be giant eggs under the sea. Steve Guttenburg is a diver who helps them. The eggs are brought ashore and placed in a swimming pool for safety.
Meantime, some residents of a local old folks home who break into the pool to go swimming, find the eggs, but go swimming anyhow. Suddenly, they feel 20 years younger, and put this down to the eggs in the pool.
Eventually the word gets out, and the whole old folks home piles into the pool, resulting in energy being drained from some of the eggs, which die.
It's a wonderful movie, with classic actors including Don Ameche and Wilford Brimley.
Guessed this one yet? It's a real giveaway from the clues and the description really, and of course the movie is the 1985 Sci-Fi classic Cocoon.
