Movie Number One

Gold in a bank behind enemy lines
It's a daring escapade
With an oddball crapgame
A real motley crew
Can you guess this movie's name?

Since it's behind enemy lines, this tells you that it's a war movie.

It's a daring raid to capture gold from a bank, and some people thought that this was the 1999 movie Three Kings staring George Clooney, but then where does "Oddball" and "Crapgame" fit in? Nowhere, because it's the wrong movie.

Oddball and Crapgame are characters from this movie, played by Donald Sutherland (Keifer's Dad) and Don Rickles. It also starred Telly Savalas (Kojak) and Clint Eastwood amongst others.

The movie is of course the 1970 World War II classic Kelly's Heroes, which along with The Dirty Dozen are probably two of the best action/comedy World War II movies ever.

Movie Number Two

It's a 50's classic, a little girl says
The title, it's just one word
It's desert radiation, mutation occurred
It could mean the end of the world

Of legs they have six, antennas too
They grow to giant size
In Los Angeles they make their stand
You will know this, if you like sci-fi.

This movie came out in 1954 (the year I was born), and was scary as anything back then.

It's one of a number of sci-fi movies from this era, that reflects the dangers of atomic weapons on our environment, and the possibility of strange mutations as a result of radiation.

The movie begins in the Arizona desert, with deserted buildings, and a driver finds a young girl who is obviously scared to death for some reason. The only word she utters is "Them".

As the movie progresses you find the reason for her fear, mutated ants which are now ten feet high and able to kill people with lethal injections of formaldehyde.

The nest is wiped out, however the queen has escaped, manages to kill everyone on board a ship, then the ants try to nest in the storm drains in Los Angeles. It's a movie that would probably be right for a remake, given the technology that we have today.

The movie is of course, "Them" - the one word that the girl utters.

Movie Number Three

A big hearted genius who is larger than life
Falls in love with the girl of his dreams
But the formula to turn him to normal size
Doesn't go as well as it would seem

It's like Jekyll and Hyde, alter ego's collide
And there's multiple personalities
It's big and it's funny, with plenty of gas
Can you guess this movie number three?

This is a movie about a genius professor who has a big heart, but more than that, he is larger than life, in fact he is huge.

He falls in love with a girl, played by Jada Pinkett Smith, and is so self conscious, that he creates a formula that will reduce his body to normal size.

Unfortunately, this also releases his alter-ego, a very cocky egotistical womanizing character, and this is where the movie gets complicated as the two sides of the professor fight for survival.

Not only is the professor big, so is his whole family, and these is a wonderfully funny scene at the dinner table where they all end up passing gas - lots of it.

Eddie Murphy plays no less than 7 members of the family, and I am sure that by now you have realized it's the 1996 blockbuster "The Nutty Professor".

I hope you enjoyed these, I am sure that most of you can work out all three movies.
I am working on sequels, so get out and watch some old movie and brush up on your movie trivia.

I try to explain the clues, and it's a lot of fun trying to come up with rhyming clues, not too cryptic hopefully, and also movies that some people have at least seen too. I am pleased so many of you enjoy these.
