In the final days before muggles can get their hands on the seventh and final Harry Potter book, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' they are anxiously and heatedly discussing a number of theories about the final book, according to forums at leakylounge.com. This is the first part in a series of investigations into the Potterverse to uncover muggle thoughts, hopes and worries for the last Harry Potter book.

The first part of the muggles thought investigations takes a look at what muggles think the 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' book cover art reveals.

For each Harry Potter book released, there are three different covers put out before the books hit the shelves. There is an adult cover, UK children's cover and a US children's cover. Each of these covers has been produce by three lucky artists that were given exclusive access to the books prior to release and the artwork has always given clues about the story.

Since the 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' book cover art was released, muggles have been deeply discussing and analyzing every millimeter of the artwork to decipher the clues and share their thoughts with fellow muggles.

US Children's Book Cover Art

The orange glow of this cover and the scene depicted are certainly not short of theories as to what is means in the muggle world. One of the most interesting things about this cover is that neither Harry nor, what most muggles think is Lord Voldermort are using wands. Harry has his arm outstretched in what muggles think is calling out for something, Fawkes has been suggested, while Voldermort is in the background looking afraid. Another theory for Harry's lack of wand is that he has harnessed the weapon he needs to defeat Voldermort; love.

As to the location of the scene on this cover many muggles feel it is behind the veil. This is because the scene is frames by curtains and there are shadowy figures in the background which some think are the dead that live behind the veil. This is leading to theories that the final battle between Harry and Voldermort takes place behind the veil. However, the veil isn't the only theory about this location. One muggle pointed out that the curtains could simply be symbolising the final scene of the book. Others have suggested that the room is a theatre located at the ministry of Magic. Some muggles have suggested that Harry and Voldermort are in some kind of cemetery and the figures in the background are actually tombstones.

Another hot topic from the US children's cover is the lockets Harry is wearing around his neck and what is could be. Some muggles are suggesting that it is a horcrux or maybe that it is the locket that Harry found with Dumbldore.

UK Children's Book Cover Art

This is an action packed scent that includes the trio, Harry, Hermione and Ron flying out of a round holes along with hundreds of coins and other treasures. Included in the treasure are dozens of red stones, the colour of Godric Gryffindor. What is also interesting to muggles about this picture is the creature on Harry's back. Many muggles are thinking that this is Dobby or Kreacher both house elves, one who is always happy to help Harry and the other who though not happy about it has to help Harry. The creature is carrying a sword which muggles think is Gryffindor's sword. Because of the red stones and sword muggles have suggested that the trio are leaving a vault in the wizarding bank, Gringotts, which belonged to Godric Gryffindor. It is thought that the trio went there to find and destroy a horcrux and it is clear that they have been in some kind of battle are the picture shows cuts on their arms and tears in their robes.

Also on the UK cover the back shows an image of a castle and a full moon. Muggles are suggesting that the castle is Hogwarts, meaning that Harry will indeed return to the school for some reason. Muggles theories about the full moon are that werewolves will play some role in the final book.

On the inside of the jacket cover is a picture of a stage patronus. This is Harry's patronus, which is also a symbol of Harry's father, and the way in which the Order of the Phoenix communicates.

Adult Book Cover Art

The adult cover for the Harry Potter books has always been a simple photograph depicting something of significance in the book. For 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' the cover shows a gold locket. The locket looks old and heavy. On the locket itself there are a number of green stones. Muggles think that this is Slytherin's locket as the stones are green, his colour, and they are laid in what looks like a snake. Muggles theories about this locket are that the Slytherin locket is the last Horcrux Harry destroys or that it just symbolizes the Horcrux hunt and the defeat of the last Slytherin heir.

Muggles discussions about what the 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' book cover art are on going and are sure to continue well after the book's release on July 21. After the book comes out muggles will be returning to the cover art to decipher what it really revealed and see who's predictions were correct.
