What NOT to Buy for the Woman in Your Life for Valentine's Day!

Don't Sleep in the 'Dog House' This Valentine's Day, Guys!

Most men find buying that Valentine's Day gift for their sweetheart a frightening task. The reason for this is many times men seem to think of 'practical' gifts for the women in their lives. There are many gifts which will land a man in the 'dog house' with his sweetheart! A woman wants to know that he loves HER. Most women want some romance in their lives, and that new toaster is NOT the way to knock her off her feet this Valentine's Day. Below is a list that is sure to land most men in the 'dog house' for sure. Stay away from the following types of presents for that special sweetheart this Valentine's Day.

Appliances- Any type of appliance is NOT a good gift for that special woman in a man's life. It does not matter if it is a toaster or a new carpet shampooer, appliances are almost always a big NO. Even IF a woman is a very practical type of person, she does not want household appliances. Even if she says she does. (A little known fact is that a woman will try to be practical, but deep down in her heart, she really wants that personal, romantic and special gift from the man in her life.)

Washers and dryers, refrigerators, ranges, central heat and air systems and all other household items, whether large or small is not the gift that she really wishes for, even if she swears that appliance is exactly what she wants for Valentine's Day. She may be 'miffed' at a man for months after that mistake. She may even say that she is "not upset, nothing is wrong." If a man makes this mistake, he should NOT believe the words that are coming from his gorgeous woman's mouth. She is ticked.

Bedding- Sheets, blankets, pillowcases (no matter how 'cute' the saying on it is), bedspreads, drapes, or even satin sheets are NOT the way to a woman's heart, either. These things are best left for a shopping trip when the tax refund comes in. Women want a thoughtful, and personal gift. Bedding of any sort is not any of those things. She may really wish to change the look in the bedroom, but those satin sheets will only guarantee one thing this Valentine's Day evening, that both, him and her, will either spend the night putting the sheets back onto the bed or sliding off of the bed, especially if she is wearing a silky night gown for that special man in her life this Valentine's Day. Even if those Satin Sheets are pink, sliding off of the bed is what satin sheets do best. Most satin sheets come in one of only a few colors, and they most likely are NOT the colors she wishes to change that room to. Most women do not want to have a black, red, or even 'hot' pink bedroom in this decade. She will NOT be 'tickled' with that gift. When that gift of bedding is given to her, she is NOT so thrilled that she is 'speechless,' she is biting her tongue in half so that she does not say something 'insensitive' to that man in her life, and that is why she is silent.

Candy and Chocolates-
Chocolates and candy are not nice gifts to give to the lady in your life for Valentine's Day. The reason these are not 'nice' is because most women are trying to watch their weight or lose weight, and when you give her a 25 pound box of chocolates, she gets a message of: "You give me chocolates, when you know how I love them and I am trying to lose weight?? How Cruel is that?" Torture of the woman in a man's life can be done more humanely than this! If she doesn't eat them, a man asks, "Don't you like the chocolates that I got you?" and then she feels bad and there goes her hard work. If she chooses not to eat the chocolates, then he feels like he has wasted his money. This gift should be reserved for Grandma, who loves chocolates and no longer is worried that 'round' is a shape! No Candy, Guys, unless you want her to melt them down and encase you in the melted goo, while you sleep!

Some gifts that she would appreciate would include the following: a gift certificate for a local spa, a gift certificate to a far away spa and airline tickets for two, so he can go too. A gym membership for two, doing things together makes them easier! A nice nightgown, NOT flannel in most cases. She would love something that you would like to see her in. Another gift that is always a hit is a night out to the movies, or dinner, better yet, BOTH. A gift card for Victoria's Secret, is always an appreciated gift and he benefits from that one too!

If money is an issue, most women love poetry, and a poem written by a man is the best, but if a man is not the type to write a poem for her, he can always buy her a book of love poetry. Gifts that do not cost a lot of money, if any, are to make her a coupon book with his own ideas (or some of these) on them, but he must be willing to fulfill the value of the coupons. A few good ideas for these may be: a massage, a foot rub, breakfast in bed, with the paper or a day or night of being pampered by him, a pedicure (if he is not the type to do it, he pays for it), a day out without the kids (he babysits), a night of romance of her choice or anything his imagination can create that would be considered spoiling her.

Another great gift that most women still love is flowers, they are an old standby, but what works, works. Any man who has ever received flowers from her, knows that it is a great feeling to get roses or any type of flowers or plants for a gift. Romance is the key here, getting her something that has had no thought put into it, is grounds for sleeping with the dog, in the dog house!! These tips should help any man to "get a clue" when it comes to the woman in his life for Valentine's Day! (This applies to other holidays too, guys! Hint HINT!)
