What the Ohio Valley College of Technology Can Do for You

This article is about Ohio Valley College of Technology where I went for my Associates Degree in Medical Assistant. It only took 16 months to complete this course which is very short because you go through the summer time so you will not have to go longer than usual.

This school is very small. It only graduates like maybe 40 people every half a year which is not bad. When I graduated we were the largest that had graduated from Ohio Valley College of Technology with about 100 people graduating including dental assistants, computer people and medical assistants.

The worst thing about this school is not the teachers or the staff or anything like that, but they things they promise you when you graduate and then do not live up to that promise.

For example, when you graduate from Ohio Valley College of Technology, they guarantee job placement. When I graduated they helped out in the beginning and then when I could not find a job they quit helping. So the thing about the, helping you find a job until you get a job is not true.

The good thing about this school is that it is not very big. There are maybe a max of 30 kids in your class at one time. Compare to the big Universities that is a very small number.

This college is not a bad college to go to, but if I had known that still 2 years later I have not found a job and they gave up looking for me I would have gone to Kent State or somewhere like that. I have been unemployed for 4 years and have been looking for a job from the very beginning of my graduation.

I know jobs are hard to come by these days, but they were suppose to help me find a job when I graduated, but they did not. That is the worst thing about this school.

The teachers are great. They help you no matter what your situation is and they try to get you through the classes as easily as possible. For example, when you take tests, you either pass or you fail. Here if you fail you get 2 more times to try to pass it before they throw you out of their class which is good because some people have a hard time taking tests.

Another good thing about the teachers in this school, is that if you have a problem whether it is at home or the school, one of the teachers is a psychologist and he will listen to anything you have to say. This man was the best teacher I had when I went to this school. You could talk to this man for hours. He would put aside his day for you which is great for a teacher to do if you were having such a hard time with something.

Overall, this school is not a bad school if you can find work on your own which I can, but it is the fact that no one is hiring around this place and in order to get a job you either have to be hired on where you are doing you extern-ship or you drive like a 100 miles away from home to go to work everyday and I cannot do that because of our money situation.

Overall, if I was to rate this school 1-10, I would have to give it a 4 for the simple fact that they do not do what they promise you they will do. It is a good school if you do not want to go to a big school, but your results in the end compared to a big school would not even be half the results.
