What You Should Do with Your Old Computer

When you get a new computer and you disconnect your old one and you through it in your trash can.

I know many people that have done this and they kick themselves a week later for doing so. Why? They just lost all of their data on their old machine. Lost all their Pictures, videos, documents, everything.

They could of easily saved all that by opening up the computer and taking out the hard drive and retrieving their data. If u don't know how here are some quick tips on doing so.

1. locate the rectangle looking box that is screwed into the computer case

2. Take out the screws

3. Take hard drive out of the computer and put it to the side (not the trash can)

4. Take your old hard drive and get a external enclosure (you can get one at www.newegg.com) for the old hard drive or take it to a tech and they will get the data for you

5. pug the old hard drive that is now in your external enclosure and into your new machine and take any of the old data you want and put it into your new machine.

Now that we have all your data off the old computer we need to get rid of the computer. DO NOT PUT YOUR COMPUTER IN THE TRASH.

Take you old computer to a center that takes old computers and dispose of them properly. If you put your computer in the trash that is going straight to a land fill and will sit there for MANY MANY years.

By taking it to a place that disposes of it properly they reuse the metal in the computer and nothing Is wasted.

So enjoy your new computer and easy your mind that you are helping the environment and you have all your data from your old computer on your new one.

I worked for a year at Dell as a computer technician (man do I have stories) and it killed me to see people throw computers away. I put an ad in the paper one time asking for broken computers and sold the good parts on ebay.
