In our society there are countless historical events that relate to the lack of understanding. The human race isn't bound to appreciate those who are quite different from each other. The difference between everyone isn't based on one common trait. What historical events are in relation to why so many do not appreciate or understand someone or something that is different from them?
Slavery, concentration camps, and the Salem witch trials were just three of the many events that were breeding ground for violence. Why were these specific events a result in the origin of violence? The lack of understanding became a routine ritual for those who have had experience with people or things that are different from them. It is unclear as to why we allow ourselves to use the lack of understanding to breed hostility into the world. What is the meaning behind the lack of understanding and these events?
With each of the events the lack of understanding played a major role into as why they begun in the first place. It isn't hard to understand the reasoning behind their actions. They immediately outcast those who either believed, looked, or did something differently than them. Even though times have changed dramatically, we still outcast whatever is poles apart from what we believe is to be "normal." This scenario reeks of violence and the origins.
High school is a feeding frenzy for non-acceptance to be bred. The atmosphere of the young mind is a foundation for hostility. Acceptance for difference doesn't exist in their minds or vocabulary. Teenagers are prone to judging others within matter of seconds. In their eyes
they don't appreciate diversity within someone or something. An example of non-acceptance in this specific atmosphere is a jock picking on a brainy student. This scenario clearly states that the differences between these two characters are obvious. It is the appearance. The first glance at something different turns their heads and begins the origin of violence. What are some of the reasons as to why it is a feeding frenzy? Cultures, religion, and bullies are the main basis for the non-acceptance of others.
Respect is often disregarded when they do not know understand something different. What does the term respect mean? In our world, name calling, vandalism of property and person is a result in why violence. How does it originate into hostility? Each of these acts shows the beginning of how a simple name calling can become something more serious than first realized. A simple joke toward someone else can be taken out of context by the recipient who can and sometime results ends up in violence.
In conclusion violence originates in many forms. It doesn't begin overnight. The origins of hostility are created from the lack of understanding, respect, and non-acceptance. These three occurrences in our society play a major role in why violence exists today. In order to drop the high rates of violence, we must try to have an open mind on anything that is different from us. This change won't happen overnight but it can transpire over time.
