What not to Pack for a Paris Vacation
Before I tell you, which items you should pack for your trip to Paris, here are a few items to leave out of your suitcase. Avoid packing anything with a logo. Many Parisians consider logos on clothing to be tacky, so it is better off to leave your Ralph Lauren polo shirts, and Louis Vuitton bags at home (unless you have the uber chic version without the logo". Faux designer bags are a definite no, no. Leave your short shorts, miniskirts and white sneakers at home. There is no need to pack bright colored clothing or flamboyant prints for your Paris vacation.
Essential Items to Pack for a Trip to Paris
Some essential items to pack for your trip to Paris include a pair of flattering black pants. If you look good in skinny leg cropped black pants, they would be perfect choice for your Paris vacation. A button down cardigan is an essential item. A Paris vacation means numerous trips in and out of air-conditioned museums, making a cardigan a practical item to bring. A pair of fashionable walking shoes are essential for walking around large cities like Paris. A pair of comfortable loafers or ballet flats are stylish alternatives to sneakers, and as opposed to sneakers scream "Parisian chic" rather than "American tourist". A pretty white dress shirt and a little black dress are two other essential items to pack. Jeans are fine as well, but in order to look French rather than American choose a skinny leg jean rather than a boot cut.
French Women Know the Power of Accessories
Most French women choose clothing in neutral colors and use accessories to add a touch of color. If you are planning a Paris vacation, make sure your suitcase contains at least one pretty scarf. Scarves are de rigueur to the Parisian wardrobe. Parisian women are famous for wearing scarves with flair. Tie yours around your neck, put it around a sleek chignon or simply tie it to the handle of your purse for a touch of Parisian flair.
These are just a few key items to pack for a trip to Paris. Stick to a neutral wardrobe, pay attention to your accessories and leave the "grunge" look at home and you may find yourself passing for a Parisian while walking down the Champs Elysees.

Post a CommentParisians are often well dressed. Neutral colors to dress up and down are good advice for travel anywhere.
I lived in Europe and went to Paris - twice. I was hit by thieves on the Champs Elysees! A pick-pocket! And, me, a New Yorker :) Oh well, I never saw it coming, cheers :) Be careful if you go - they are so cute - but quick!
This is a super cool article! I do have a few French friends and she says Levi's jeans and Ralph Lauren are actually really coveted(sp?) because it is all much more expensive there. I never would have guessed that.
