What is Piloncillo?

Pure Writing
This next article is a sweet article that you readers will enjoy. The food I would like to write about is called Piloncillo (Mexican cone shaped solid brown sugar), and it's very sweet to eat. In this article I will discuss what Piloncillo is, and what it's used for in Mexico.

I have been eating Piloncillo for many years in my lifetime, and I still eat it to this very day but I only eat small amounts because it's really sweet. Piloncillo basically is sugarcane molasses that taste similar to brown sugar, but there is a little difference in taste. Piloncillo is sold by the pound in Mexico, and it comes as cone shaped and is hard solid. But, there is Piloncillo that is very chewy and very good to eat, that is the one I usually buy when I go to Mexico on vacation.

Piloncillo is used for different cooking methods in Mexico, but I love to used it in my Atole (Mexican corn based drink) because the taste is so good with the fresh sugarless Atole. Piloncillo is also used to make morning drinks, and for baking Gordas de Horno (Mexican baked cakes). But, Piloncillo is really popular during Christmas time, because Piloncillo is used to make Buenolos (Mexican toasted sweet bread). Buenolos are usually covered in melted Piloncillo, and the taste is very good and different. Piloncillo is also used to bake, but I don't know what ways Piloncillo is used in baking. If any of you readers out there is a good chef you can think of many ways to used Piloncillo. When I go to Mexico to buy Piloncillo I'm really amazed by the amounts of Piloncillo for sale, because they sell it in bags of five cones and their supply is very large. I would also suggest using Piloncillo in your coffee in the morning instead of sugar, just a small cut cube will get your coffee really sweet.

If any of you readers out there have ever tried Piloncillo please let me know how it tasted. This product is hard to find in the United States, but it's sold in a lot of different countries like in India. Just make sure to not eat to much Piloncillo, because it's pure sugar and too much sugar can cause someone to start running around very quickly. Please leave comments on my work below, and I hope you all enjoy Piloncillo.
