Platanos Fritos is basically fried half sliced bananas over an egg skillet, and it is more like a breakfast or lunch item according to my friend from El Salvador. The end result of Platanos Fritos is very good, and the taste is sweet and a little soggy. Platanos Fritos can be eaten with some whip cream on the side, just be sure to get the canned whip cream. In my opinion this treat can be enjoyed in the morning as breakfast to get a long day started.
To make Platanos Fritos it's very easy and fun, you will need an egg skillet. Then you have to take a little butter and melt in the hot egg skillet. After this you can grill the bananas just a little, and then you can sprinkle some cinnamon and sugar for flavoring. The bananas come out a little grilled depending on the stove temperature. Then when done you can enjoy them with some whip cream for dipping, but don't forget to share with your friends or love ones.
This dish is eaten a lot in El Salvador, but not as much in the United States I guess it all has to do with culture and what country you are from. In my current home town in Beaumont, Texas we don't have a Salvadorian restaurant but I think we should get one. Because, I love to explore new foods from different countries and to learn new cultures to be more educated in the arts of cooking and cultures.
