What is Politics?

Rosa Hayes
Politics happen all the time and in more places than we might realize. As a political science major, I have the benefit of seeing politics more often than a lot of other people, or should I say that I have the benefit to spot politics easier than a lot of others but only mostly because I know what to look for.

As most dictionaries and books would say, "Politics are the study of who gets what, when, and how." I will go more into debt on this later. For now we are going to look at politics in a more different form.

When we think of politics, we often think of elections and voting but this isn't just what politics are about. Politics happen in our daily lives everywhere around us. We have politics in church, in our family lives, in the government, between siblings, and everywhere that we look. Politics are everywhere.

Politics is basically fighting for what you believe in and trying to make others agree with you and see your point of view. Politics can be about anything as you can see in the previous paragraphs. There are few who actually get the most of what they want and many who try but do not succeed. This is not to say that you shouldn't fight for what you believe in but do realize that politics can be a very harsh battle depending on what you are trying to get.

Politics can be more easily explained using an example of sex, money, respect, and jobs; each person in these circumstances want more so they are using politics to get it.

Politics are basically a way to gain power over something to accomplish whatever it is that you want to accomplish. I hope that this has given you a better understanding of what politics are. If you have any questions on the subject, please feel free to email me by clicking on my profile page.

Believe me when I say that there are politics here at Associated Content. It is all about what you want to achieve.

Who gets what when and where is just the result of bad politics.
