Once you see that a Law Enforcement officer is trying to get your attention and pull you over you should then proceed to make sure that traffic is clear give your right turn signal and pull over to the right side of the road. When getting pulled over even if you are in the Left hand lane never pull over on the Left side of the road. Also never pull over in the turning lane you should find a clear piece of shoulder on the road or high way on the right hand side to pull over on.
After being pulled over remain calm. Do not fidget around in your car or make any sudden movements. You should sit still with your hands on the steering wheel. You may roll down the window but you should wait to roll down the window until the officer approaches the car. When the Law Enforcement Officer approaches your car for the traffic stop you should be courteous even if you are upset that you were pulled over. You could have been pulled over for speeding or the officer may have seen that your tire was about to go flat and wanted to let you know. You should always hear the officer out before jumping to conclusions and becoming angry with the Law Enforcement officer.
You should always make sure to have your registration and proof of insurance in a place that is easily accessible such as the glove box. If you have a weapon in your glove box because you have a concealed weapons permit then you should let the officer know before hand that way they will not over react by thinking you are about to use the weapon. This will help the safety of the officer along with your safety.
While driving you should also make sure that you have a valid driver's license and tag. The lack of having a valid driver's license could end up in you going to jail. The lack of you having a valid tag can result in you getting a ticket for the invalid tag along with what ever traffic infraction you committed.
When being pulled over by a Law Enforcement Officer you should always obey what ever orders you are instructed by the Law Enforcement Officer. Because the Law Enforcement Officer may be nice and cut you break and not give you a ticket they may just give you a warning and let you be on your way. This warning could be a verbal warning or it could be a written warning it all depends on department's policies and procedures.
After the traffic stop is all over and done with then you should proceed back into traffic by putting your left turn signal on and when the lane is clear proceed back in traffic. If The Law Enforcement Officer leaves after you and is behind you and going the same way it does not mean that you should freak out. This just means that the odds are the Law Enforcement Officer is patrolling his or her zone or area and is going the same way as you. They are not going to look for more infractions to pull you over on unless you commit some more in front of them. You should always drive safely also no matter what. The only reasons Law Enforcement Officers pull you over are because it is their job to protect you and the public that is surrounding you while driving also because you committed an infraction such as speeding over the speed limit that can harm you or people surrounding you. The fore going is what you should do when pulled over by a Law Enforcement Officer.
