What is Real Faith?

Dhaval Joshi
The Latin equivalent of the word "TO BELIEVE", means to receive, to confess, to make, what the Church teaches about God.

When we say "I believe", our soul rises with the gift of the Holy Ghost to God, Who accomplishes our faith.

In the world created by God, the following creatures have faith:

1. Angels, who believe, but they also can see what they believe in. The faith of angels is not a virtue because they don't make any effort to believe, as they see God, as they are gifted to see God.

From angelic powers, saint archangels have the gift to grow real orthodox faith, among people on earth, spreading light in front of them, with the teachings of the Holy Bible

2. Devils believe in God and they are afraid of Him (Jacob 2, 19). Devils can't see God and they always do evil things, faith of devils in God is creational, and it is changed into hating God. The evil will last within them forever, and they finally will be lost

When people who forgot about real faith speak about God with dark thoughts, they are under the devil's influence

Orthodox Christians, by the Holy baptism (Galateni 3. 17) believe in God, but they can't see Him with their flash and blood eyes, only with the eyes of their mind (Matthew 5, 6).

Real faith is a gift from God (Rom. 12, 3; Efes. 2, 8; Filip 1, 29, 2) together with the effort of the man to know God and to be like God by holiness, which is obtained by practising virtues (accomplishing God's commandments).

The christian who believes in God and accomplishes God's commandments, will inherit the heaven, and will enjoy forever God's glory

There is only one God, only one faith, real faith the orthodox one. The other faiths are not complete, they don't possess the whole truth, therefore they are not enough for salvation.

Real faith, the orthodox one is the power of God (1 Corinteni 2, 5) and a christian virtue which strengthens all the virtues and power of the soul. For orthodox Christians, faith is a great gift and great power to fight with terrestrial life's obstacles. (Filipeni 1, 29; 1 Cor. 12, 9).

Faith in the Holy Trinity (Isaia 6, 3), is the power of the New Testament

Orthodox christian faith is God's teaching, above all the words and reason.

Christian orthodox teaching is included briefly in the Creed prayer, which is the symbol of faith.

By confessing our faith, telling daily the Creed, especially at night, before going to bed, angels powers cover us and guard us, as a well known creature, and evil spirits go away powerlessly.

Real faith, the orthodox one is power, it is a gift from God (2 Peter 1, 1), which helps us and gives us without any doubt all that God discovered and all that the holy orthodox church teaches us for our salvation.
