What is Real Success?

Some people define it by the kind of car they drive. Others define it by how big their house is. Many others think it is based on how much money they have in their bank account. What is the true definition of success. Should success be viewed in terms of the things. Although these things are important, I would venture to say that true success really has very little to do with the 'things' you have. Here are a few important things to consider.

Success is taking care of your family. Weather you are a man or women, taking care of your family is something to be very proud of. This means if you are a husband you provide a place for your family to live, put food on the table and try to keep your wife and kids happy. If you are a wife, you should look to take care of your husband and your kids. You should both be loving parents who are taking time to spend with your children. You attend their games, recitals, club meetings and parent-teacher conferences.

Another measure of success is being a good person. Living a Christian life is something to be proud of. A good person treats people with kindness. They are slow to get angry and are always ready to reconcile. They look for the good in other people and they are always trying to keep peace. Even more importantly they follow the golden rule; treat others the way you want to be treated. Good people stay out of trouble with the law.

The best jobs don't always pay the most. Success is finding a profession that you love and that gives back in someway. Teachers, doctors and firefighters are prime examples of people who give back in a big way. If you can find a great profession like one of these, and if you are truly happy, you have done something that many people will never do in their entire life.

Success is learning to be happy. So many people in our world have millions of dollars but they are very unhappy. Money can't buy you happiness, It might get you some nice stuff, that will make you feel good for a while, but it can't buy you happiness. True happiness comes in other ways. If you can learn to be happy and content where you are in life, while continuing to work toward your goals, you have reached a great level of success.

You'll notice that this article did not mentioned that you need a certain amount of money or social status to be happy. In reality, many of the happiest people in the world are everything but this. The next time you see someone who has a fancy car, or a huge house, before you start talking as if you envy them, remember some of mentioned benchmarks for measuring success, family, happiness, and a rewarding profession.
