This means that you shouldn't wait until you have a big event planned or something that you are going to feel self conscious at before you go ahead and try a new color or even a new brand of color. Pick a weekend during the month that is low key so that if the results are not what you want you can always duck into a store and buy some lighter or darker shade or some repairing products. If your hair is too light after you are done you can always put a darker color on top of it; if it is too dark you can shampoo it with a harsh shampoo over and over and that will lighten it a bit. Do not try to do all of these processes in the same day though; as it will dry out your hair.
