The nominees for Outstanding Drama Series are as follows:
"Boston Legal" on ABC
"Grey's Anatomy" on ABC
"Heroes" on NBC
"House" on FOX
"The Sopranos" on HBO
"Boston Legal" is a David E. Kelley production on the ABC network that is a spinoff of the hit show "The Practice." The show tells of the exploits of the unethical attorneys at a powerful civil law firm. "Boston Legal" has been on the air since 2004, and this year it is up for five different Emmy awards. The show has won four Emmy awards in past years.
"Grey's Anatomy" on ABC is a critically acclaimed show that focuses on the lives of five surgical interns at a Seattle hospital and their supervisors. The show has been on the air since 2005 and features an all star cast including Patrick Dempsey and Sandra Oh. "Grey's Anatomy" is nominated for seven Emmy awards this year.
"Heroes" is nominated for three Emmy awards this year. The NBC drama chronicles the lives of average people who discover that they possess supernatural powers. The innovative show has been on the air since 2006.
"House" is another medical drama up for an Emmy this year. "House" airs on the FOX network and stars Hugh Laurie as a doctor who practices diagnostic medicine. The show began in 2004 and has won numerous entertainment awards. This year, "House" is up for three Emmy awards.
"The Sopranos" is also nominated in the category of Outstanding Drama Series. The HBO mafia drama starring James Gandolfini and Edie Falco has been a hit with fans for almost a decade. Although the show came to a dramatic conclusion this year, "The Sopranos" will not be forgotten. In addition to the Outstanding Drama Series nomination, "The Sopranos" is nominated for another seven Emmy awards. In the past eight years, the show has earned eighteen Emmy awards and countless nominations.
And the winner is...
Although each show is brilliant in its own right, my pick for the winner in the Outstanding Drama Series category would have to be "The Sopranos." The fact that the show ended this year adds credibility to my prediction. I believe that critics and fans would like to see the show win, and what better way for "The Sopranos" to go out than with a bang?
