What is the Significance of Easter to Christians?
A Personal Perspective About Easter and What This Means for Christian Bible Believers
For some Christians (such as the Pentecostals or Apostolic Believers) the death of Christ represents repentance from sins (or from breaking the Commandments of God as mentioned in Exodus Chapter 20 verses 1-20). So when a prospective believer repents, he or she becomes dead to sin as part of the three step process. When the individual is baptized by water (immersed in water) the person is buried and when the Holy Spirit is received, the resurrection of the person is final process. The last part (resurrection by receiving the Holy Spirit) is considered the most important because it signifies the completion of the process, as was the case with Christ.
Burial is traditionally done according to Matthew Chapter 28 verse 19 by most Christian Churches. The contemporary Apostolic Christian Believers baptize their members by following the Preaching and Teaching of the Apostles, such as Peter when he mentioned the words in Acts Chapter 2 verse 38 for water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Some believe there is no significant difference between Matthew Chapter 28 verse 19 and Acts Chapter 2 verse 38. However, many of the Pentecostal Apostolic Christian Denominations will disagree. All Christian Churches agree that Jesus and God the Almighty are at the center of the Christian Faith.
Faith, belief and the complete acceptance of the above (death, burial and resurrection) are very essential to Christians for two main reasons.
Firstly, Christians by faith will live their entire lives according to and in agreement with the Bible Commandments and Teachings from the Old to the New Testament. In the process of their daily lives, the Believers will expect and receive the provisions of basic needs, guidance from evil or law breakers in the societies in which they live, protection from unwelcome dangers or harms, healing of the body and mind, miracles, and such alike. These are attributed to come from God and because the Christian Bible Believers are living in obedience to the Scriptures each day.
The second has to do with Eternal Life from God. This is the ultimate reward for Christian Believers. They all do what the Bible says until their deaths so they will receive their rewards in Heaven. Since in recent contemporary time, no one has actually seen someone died, went to heaven and returned to testify that this is real, someone unbelief in this does not make the Word of God and the Christian Faith untrue or foolish as mentioned in Romans Chapter 3 verses 3-4.
The belief in God until the end (or when the Christian Believer dies) is essential. The importance of this is mentioned in Matthew Chapter 24 verses 11-13. A Christian Believer (or any individual) death is the end of the process of life as we humans know and understand life and death. However, the Bible speaks about Eternal Life in a Heaven (as mentioned in Matthew Chapter 19 verses 16-17) for those who believe God and obey his Commandments until his/her death. So the significance of the Principle of Easter (death, burial and resurrection) becomes critical to a Believer and Eternal Life. And eternal life is granted to those who keep or obey God's Commandments all the days of his/her life until natural death from life.
Therefore, in ending, Easter has great significance to Christian Bible Believers all around the world. A Christian is usually someone who believes in God, the Bible, has repented from sins, is baptized by water and received the Holy Spirit from God. Then the person has to live and obey God's Commandments to receive divine blessings and provisions during his/her life and then Eternal Life in Heaven from obeying the Commandments. The above information is true and the Scriptures can be read in the Christian Bible. The process to get to Heaven and the teachings of each Church Denomination and Practice will differ in some respects. However, all real Christian Church members of the congregations must obey God's Commandments to be accepted by God and receive the ultimate reward of Eternal Life in Heaven after the natural life has ended.
